The flaming exists only in your head.
I like the PvE a lot myself, but it is simply not enough to keep a pure PvE player entertained for 500+ hours, and was not intended to be. Other MMOs offer much more PvE content.

I would have thought that it is enough to entertain people, with items such as updates, FoW, Uw, and creating new characters.

I dont see a huge amount of depth in the pvp side either, which i believe was what created this thread.

The first expansion is 8 months away... I dont know how much you play, but I doubt you will still be running through the same missions with your 5th character in 3 months. And the free updates will not add enough PvE content to last for months, either. They'll save that for the expansion.

I do. I see more depth than I did in any other PvP game I ever played... just wish there were more maps and game options.
Those who dont see the depth maybe are not in an active guild that writes up a new team strategy every week?

pretty much, but some of you like to melt it into something else and treat peoples oppinions like garbage.....sigh, pvp in the game isnt all that great. No offense to the devs, the game is beautiful and expansive, I love it. But it could use fine tuning.
and being here for a month means nothing. The game came out not long ago, so the fact that you feel superior for being here before the game was released, congrats on that

No offense but this is by far the stupidest idea that I have ever heard. Basing game by game off of an age old "classic", or so to speak; from the oppinion of elementary school d2 drop outs is not how to market any product. If you enjoy spamming your middle finger all day on a 3 ounce piece of plastic (not to mention the repetition); showing no efffort whatsoever in tactics, then by all means: go back to d2.
This game was developed for a reason, and crying because there are no 2 million damage bows/spells/swords is just a fowl cry away from utter lazyness.
Flame away, for if you really support the whole d2 lifestyle, then your basis in oppinion is of no importance and relevance to me.

Ive seen more depth in FPS to be honest, because there were more elements involved other than setup prior to the match. You are talking to a guy that basically could see the outcome from most tabletop style strategy games before the pieces are on the table. Depth comes from more than just the execution and having a proper setup has a greater impact than execution does. The actual execution only matters when both setups are improper to counter and even then it wold fall to the statistics of dps vs hps.

Alright Nizzim, I was trying to say this nicely, but evidently you have no idea what you originally stated in your first post. You posted about throwing in D2 elements; then repeatedly said “we don’t need another D2”. A little sign of hypocrisy there if I do say so myself.
Yes I did read the forum, sir, and I began to notice that you strayed wildly from your opinion, often flaming other people for expressing their opinion at your remarks. You showed little regard for others, and kept complaining about how one sided everyone is. And then when someone brings this to your attention, you have nothing better to say then “I played this game since it came out” or “I never said I hated this game”
You defend yourself by contradiction. Read the title of your original post and reply to that. Try not to go out in left field again, please; for all you seem to do is jump at anyone who disagrees with you.

A prime example. Someone tries to throw out an opinion that makes sense. A game that was liked by many for various reasons, and you go out flaming the person because you believe that it was enjoyed solely on the violence that it encompassed. Great analysis, for that wasn’t what the person was bringing up. They were bringing up the fact about how games in general are usually appreciated in general for what they possess. Not the fact that they only involve death and destruction.

Again you contradict yourself. You keep saying about how you play this game religiously, do 11hr straight runs at a time, how you’ve “probably played more than anyone else”. And you then come to call the others in this forum cave-dwelling? Nice comparison…
On top of this you complain about people telling you to look at it one sided. Listen… in fact read, because at this point I doubt you are even able to comprehend much of what anyone has to say about you before you flame whatever they happen to post. And then you say we all want you to look at it one sided… I can see your side: Flame anyone who looks like they put no more than 10 seconds of thought into their answer.
Read what people post about before you act. Granted, you do have some good ideas about how the PK system should be changed I wont argue that, and you do seem to understand a lot about this game. This doesn’t, however, grant you the authority to disregard and argue anyone and everyone’s opinion that rivals your own.

I respect you're views, everybodies views. I dont agree with a lot of them.
I know that the game is skill based and all that good stuff, But its premise doesnt mean its fun. I was simply stating that throwing in elements that d2 possessed would be a great and fun experiment.
throwing in elements doesnt make it another d2, so I'm not wrong on saying that, I only said it cuz i mentioned it once and people jumped on it like tigers like i wanted diablo 2 as a side game in GW or something.
I said cave dwelling because anyone who "Researches" the game that much or has to go this in depth with the simple statement I made has nothing better to do apparently.
People that are bored with the game agree with me, people that arent dont agree, no big deal. But that doesnt mean I want to hear them yelling at me for saying what I feel. I only yelled back because people that get the last word on something they didnt understand pisses me off.
I think everyone can agree that the system could still use work, and if you cant. Fine whatever, I posted this to see who'd agree and maybe come up with cool ideas

It seems to me that you posted hoping that everyone would call you a genius (or other compliment) and come up with "cool ideas" that resembled yours. And when other people (most of them from what I've read) posted their ideas that didn't agree with yours, you flew off the handle at them, accusing them of not understanding, and calling them infantile names.
I'm fairly sure that most everyone who responded understood what you meant. I'm also fairly sure that most everyone who disagreed with you, had a reason for not liking the particular section you brought up (D2,GTA:SA etc.). You seem to like a different brand of game. And that's fine. But this game, thankfully, will never be the game that you want it to be. It will get better over time. And if it doesn't, it will die like the rest, and others will be made in it's place.
It's just that simple.

I have issues with the game, but I'm not going to hold my breath as far as them making any drastic changes... infact it will probably get easier than harder. This game is meant IMO for casual/ instant satisfaction, and a hardcore MMO player will probably start to lose intrest pretty quick if they spend mass hours on this game.
It's a good issue to discuss and debate, but don't expect to make the tides turn.

ive played GW for 3 weeks.. took a week break then played again to be boared again. In diablo 2 there was Weapons to look up to and farm for. in gw your looking for a bow that just looks diffrent and has the same max damage, same with the armor 15k for diffrent armor mods...WTF, same armor diffrence also.
theres no good things in end-game about GW. WoW is all about end game, if u dont like GW i sugest that you move to WoW.
Gw is ok i can complain its free...hoping to see a dual weilding character(barb) or a stealth user(wasnt the ranger the one character that used stealth??)
the one thing that i cant stand about Gw is the amout of money that you get failing at an Long ass super-stupid UW run..i hate UW so much The computer can me 10 levels ahead but we can still kick ass...?
i agree with some ppl the game is TO even..MAKE SOME SETS OR UNIQUE WEAPONS!!!

We need to show that post to all those who say that gear makes an insane difference.
|
Just to add on to where the OP left off, I think I know where he is coming from.
Firstly.. wow.. I didn't know you do a lot of RESEARCH when it comes to buying a $50 GAME. I research for reports and paper that I have to write. I do NOT research with regards to my entertainment.
Secondly, yes yes, skill and tactics. Except I don't give two hoots about PvP. What is starting to be lacking is how I get 0 XP from killing creatures as I'm exploring the world, and how every item looks the same day in and day out.
For goodness sakes, at least give 1 XP!
It is not *trivial* to kill those creatures just because they are 5 levels below you?! That's the insinuation that the game is making when you gain 0 XP effectively.
What then is the incentive to carry on exploring?
-No XP.
-No items.
-No gold. Oh wait.. 100 gold shared with a party of 8.. Woohoo!
-Nothing.
Can you kindly please tell me where on the box did it say "May contain dull and repetitive content, especially pertaining to items and weapon upgrades"
The situation has gotten to a point when an apparently "perfect" staff head that gives 10 energy costs $100,000.
That is ridiculous.
I'd really say. Make all sorts of fancy weapons unlockable via faction points for the PvP end of the game, and likewise, have more "colourful" items and upgrades in the PvE end.
That way PvPers can have their "dull" and "balanced" weapons, and PvEers can have more "surprises" when playing around.
Let's admit it, when you see a gold item drop for you doesn't your heart beat faster for a moment. Please tell me this is the case, cause otherwise I'm pretty sure YOU have bought the wrong game.
Also what's the deal with dropping sigils in HoH? Just give insane faction points. I've actually had the opportunity to meet a PvP expert who is so insanely rich... well, let's just leave it at here. It is just impossible to describe how rich he is.
Keep PvP and PvE economies separate.
